On the way to Hradcany Castle

Hradcany Castle is really the "center" of Prague. It is an extensive complex of palaces, churches, and museums and the former residence of the Kings of Bohemia going back to the 10th century. Today, it is the residence of the President of the Czech Republic in addition to housing many of its government offices. Of special interest in this vast grouping of buildings is the Strahov Monastery, built in 1140, which houses a theological collection of over 200,000 books, including works from famous printers such as Christoffel Plantin.
